International Yoga Day

The ancient Indians believed that our body is a temple. They practiced yoga as a means of celebrating and maintaining the body and the mind. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that has its roots in India.

The word YOGA means to add - practicing ASANAS adds positive quality to our mental and physical existence.

To celebrate the day of mental peace and good health 21st June is celebrated as an INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY and we, the students, faculty and staff members of Narula Institute of Technology, celebrate this day each year with great gusto.

The year 2020 has been challenging in many aspects, caused by the sudden onset of COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of on-going national lockdown, the usual Yoga day celebrations had to be re-imagined and refashioned by the NSS Committee of Narula Institute of Technology. We encouraged our students to practice Yogasanas within the safe confinement of their homes and photograph their postures. These were then widely circulated among everybody to raise awareness and promote practicing of this beneficial habit. The response from the students was overwhelming, as we received more than a hundred pictures and videos documenting yogasana postures. It is a privilege to know our next generation is keenly aware of this more than one-thousand-year old practice which is both part of our tradition and heritage. The overall response made Yoga day no less a success and the significance of the day was upheld in good light.
