Narula Institute of Technology

Narula Institute of Technology has been a leading autonomous engineering and management institute under the aegis of JIS Group Educational since 2001 and is located in Agarpara, Kolkata. The institute is affiliated with MAKAUT, WB, and the technical courses are approved by AICTE. The Institute has received the prestigious NIRF ranking from MHRD, Govt. of India, for the last five consecutive years. Currently, it has six NBA-accredited degree programmes in gineering. It also prides itself on obtaining NAAC 'A' accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Government of India.

The Institute was deemed worthy of receiving the notable World Bank-assisted and MHRD-approved TEQIP (phase 2) grant for the advancement of technical education. It has also been deemed eligible for receiving central assistance under the recognition of clauses 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act. The institute is committed to being a centre of excellence in technological education and research by imparting equitable, inclusive, ethical, flexible, and multidisciplinary knowledge to budding technologists to serve society. The Institute strives to create an innovation-centric learning environment adorned with immense scholarly contributions from a dedicated group of faculty members as well as enthusiastic, brilliant students. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), GOI, has given the Institute the prestigious recognition of "Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO)" for its notable R&D efforts that would drive it towards achieving the centre of excellence in academia. The Institute boasts many successfully completed research projects funded by renowned agencies like ISRO, DAE, MoHS, AICTE, etc. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory and workshop facilities, high-end computing facilities, a library and information centre, seminar halls, round-the-clock Internet facilities, and separate hostels for boys and girls in and around the campus. In order to support the learning ecosystem, the institute has ensured the existence of various student clubs, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IIC), and collaborated with many professional bodies and industries. The Placement and Training Centre has enabled the students to get lucrative job offers from many leading organisations even before the completion of their formal degree. The institute has produced a large number of successful graduates who have gone on to work for a variety of reputable companies and organisations, not only in this country but also abroad. Civil Engineering Department

Civil Engineering Department of Narula Institute of Technology started in 2007, with U.G course. Later, the department extends to P.G (M.Tech in Structural Engineering) and Diploma in Civil Engineering courses. In very short time the department achieved a good reputation. At present the intake capacity of the department is U.G -60, P.G– M.Tech Structure-30 & Geotech- 18 and Diploma in CE-30. This department is very much involved in consultancy work in every directiontion of Civil Engineering.

The department is very enthusiastic on research-oriented work as on society needs. Faculty strength maintains AICTE norms along with Laboratory Assistants. Student- faculty are jointly involved in paper publications, Tech-fest conduction, project work competition etc. Regarding involvement in student training activities, Dept. is very much taking part on its industries facilities, job facilities, etc. Furthermore, the department organized prestigious 5-week Technical Training Programme of junior Engineers of West Bengal Govt. Under ISGPP II sponsored by World Bank (2017, 2018 and 2019). Department also has received MODROB from AICTE and DST-FEST fund from Govt. of India.

IIEST Shibpur

IIEST, Shibpur (Erstwhile "Bengal Engineering College") ranks 35th in NIRF-2023 among Engineering Institutes in India. It is the first college to become Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) in India in 2014. The Institute has a rich history. It is empowering the nation since 1856. Considering the year of establishment, it is the 3rd engineering

college in India but considering the year of graduation it is the 2nd oldest engineering college in India. It has 16 departments and 8 schools. It has over 250 faculty members and a student strength of over 4000.

Civil Engineering Department, IIEST Shibpur

Founded in May 1856, the Department of Civil Engineering is as old as the institute. The Department was originally established

as the Civil Engineering College, Calcutta with the object of imparting training to the personnel in the field of Civil Engineering for the fulfillment of the need of the Public Works Department of the Government of India. Since then it has been striving to develop and maintain a glorious national tradition of producing quality Civil Engineers for the country. The Civil Engineering department, at present, provides facilities for research and development in the following broad areas: • Structural Engineering • Geotechnical Engineering • Water Resources Engineering • Environmental Engineering • Transportation Engineering The Department has been associated with various sponsored projects in the above fields. It is one of the Government of India recognized Quality Improved Programme Centres and associated with topical research and development activities. The Department undertakes sponsored research from the AICTE, MHRD, UGO, CSIR, etc. The department lends support to the collaborative project, seminars, workshops and also associates itself in different consultancy activities like design, detailing, quality control, project management, etc. to meet the challenges of both private and public sector projects. This department has made a significant contribution to the removal of arsenic from groundwater. The age-old prestigious department has stood the test of time, to bring home to the students, the scholar, the patrons and all concerned the fruits of development of Science and Technology and to enable them to face any challenge anywhere in the field of Civil Engineering.
