Digital Signal Processing Laboratory(EC-593)

General information about the Laboratory: Digital Signal Processing laboratory is situated 2nd floor, room no. 316B.Geometric area of this lab is about 900 square feet. According to present curriculum B-Tech (ECE) 5th Semester Students perform experiments on Digital Signal Processing Laboratory.Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Laboratory can be described as the processing of signals using digital techniques or digital computers. A signal is a piece of information in binary or digital form. Digital Signal processing techniques improve signal quality or extract important information by removing unwanted part of the signal.Digital Signal Processing accounts for a substantial proportion of the world market for electronic devices. And therefore, the leading electronics manufacturers have invested heavily in DSP technology.

Course outcomes (Digital Signal Processing Lab, Code: EC593)

CO1: Able to compute the system output using convolution method.

CO2: Able to verify the system characteristics.

CO3: Able to analyze the signals in frequency domain using FFT.

CO4: Able to design the digital filters to synthesize speech signal.

CO5: Able to Develop and Implement DSP algorithms in embedded system.

  1. Study of Various discrete sequences.
  2. Study of various operations on discrete signals.
  3. Study convolution of two discrete signals.
  4. Convolution of two discrete sequences and to verify properties of convolution.
  5. Study z transforms.
  6. Study inverse Z transform.
  7. Study of Discrete Fourier Transform.
  8. Study of circular convolution.
  9. Study of fast (sectioned) convolution.
  10. Using Hamming Window design LPF, HPF, BPF, BSF.
  11. Basic concept of TMS 6713 DSP kit.

Name of the innovative experiments

  1. Design of low pass and high pass filter to see the low and high frequency components of a song and its effect.
  2. Introduce noise to the signal and try to minimize that.
  3. Boost up the high or low frequency components.

  • In this laboratory 34 Desktop PCs are available equipped with Matlab software.
  • All the PCs are connected with LAN and internet connection.
  • Hands on experiment with real time signal can be processed using TMS Kit.
  • Laboratory manual exists for beginner.
  • Laboratory is open for B-Tech, M-Tech and R& D projects of related fields.
  • This lab also useful for Diploma ETCE student.
  • Beyond schedule laboratory session, this laboratory is open for practice session for beginner and researcher.
  • This lab is fully air conditioning.
