English Language Laboratory
Narula Institute of Technology possesses a one of its kind English Language Laboratory which has been set up under the technical guidance of IIT, Kharagpur. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual gadgets (headphones and microphones etc.) and is utilized extensively to teach the students the much needed communication skills, presentation skills, group discussion skills and other soft skills.
It is also used for personality development and uses modern, up-to-date hardware and software aids to tutor the students on phonetics, comprehension, accents etc. From the point of view of the placement scenario, the English Language Laboratory is nothing short of a boon to the students as it helps them develop their soft skills and expertise in the English communication and comprehension.
Advanced Communication Laboratory
The Advanced Communication Laboratory in the Electronics & Communications Engineering department has been set up with a specific view to educate the students on the very important topics of Mobile Communication, Wireless Communication, Fibre Optic Communication and Satellite Communication. The experimental kits procured and installed to conduct the experiments are the latest in the market and help the faculties in not only meeting the requirements of the WBUT syllabus, but at times exceeding the same.
Wireless LAN Laboratory
A Wi-Fi network (based on IEEE802.11b and IEEE802.11g standards) has been set up in the Computer Science & Engineering department of the institute to extend the existing LAN connectivity wirelessly to remote corners. The usage of Wi-Fi network provides users the freedom to roam throughout the premises and stay connected.
This reduces cabling costs and associated maintenance costs enormously, at the same time improving the data rate (a maximum data rate of 54 Mbps is possible) and quality of service within the Wi-Fi region. Another advantage of Wi-Fi network is that it provides built-in capacity and flexibility for growing networks since it is easier to add new clients and and/or move the entire network to a new site, if required.
Electric Drives Laboratory
The existing Electric Drives Laboratory in the Electrical Engineering department is currently having Siemens make setup for the study of variable frequency control of 3-phase Induction Motor Drive. However, this laboratory is soon going to be upgraded and augmented by incorporating the following major equipment:
- Thyristor controlled DC drive
- Chopper controlled DC drive
- AC Single Phase Induction Motor Drive using TRIAC
- Siemens make Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) based AC/DC Motor Drives
Inclusion of the above equipment in the Electric Drives Laboratory will enable the students to learn the operational features of various types of electric drives in a more fruitful manner.
