An Educational Initiative of JIS Group
Ethics
Ethics generally mean a set of principles of right conduct which is invariably based on the value system. When we talk about it in institutional context, it may be the rules or standards governing the conduct of a person or the member of a profession. Not only every individual and the Institute, Universities also felt the necessity and incorporated "Values and Ethics" in their syllabi through different modes of all professional disciplines.
Ethics for Students
A piece of lesson often given in institutional psychology for changing further the attitude and behavior of student is to get in touch with their emotions. To do that successfully , some basic questions need to be sorted out, like-
- How do we get in touch with their emotions?
- What is to be done once they have been located and unraveled?
In order to change the students' ethical values, it requires a deeper psychological process of detached and disciplined observation by any prudent individual or group. That's what we did in the last one year and formed a holistic, integral, innovative and hypothetical model aimed towards a benchmark. Firstly we are attempting to change mindset of organizational members through trickeries of institutional psychology. Secondly, we are focusing on the value system of individual, their emotions and feelings , and thirdly, if possible, we are searching the roots of subject , and trying to imply examined and unexamined changes in ethico-moral consequences.
We have already started a mentoring scheme for the last five years where every mentor has been advised to counsel every mentee mentioning the aspect of ethics and its relation with value system and professionalism. Our achievements in this context are quite satisfactory in terms of qualitative improvement.
We have arranged a seminar on "Value and Ethics in Profession" reflected by Swami Sarvapriyananda, Registrar, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, where around 200 students and 100 employees of NIT sat spellbound for 2 hours and assimilated all the ideas about the ethical variables in profession as well as in society and created an environment which prevails among the employees and student and unlock the gate of persistent change in behavior towards conditional learning. We have got the lession of incremental improvement of the variables of attitude and skills and planned to inject the same thing into the mind of the would be professionals of UG and PG courses.
